GTA:IV - Sleeping?

So what's the point of sleeping in GTA? It saves the game, and the game time advances six hours. But since the game is auto-saved after each mission, what do I really gain by going back to the safe house and sleeping?

For some missions the people you need are only available in day or at night so this just speeds things up for you

Its nothing but the game is being saved. So that u can reload the game from where u are saved after finishing a mission. (That is entering in to the house). Try to get to the house and save the game each and every time of your single mission completion.

You could be saving a nice car you found, or had made money or advanced friendships and what not, or got some smart new weapons.

Plenty more to the game than just the missions.
