  • When are the politicians of Minnesota going to pass new laws bringing the driver's license in compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005?

The REAL ID Act of 2005 established standards for government ID. This happened more than a decade ago and Minnesota is still not compliant. This means that when I travel out of state, even the automated machines in car rental places won't recognize my ID because we are one of four states not to comply with the law. This will eventually affect air travel. When are our politicians planning on doing the job we elected them to do?

  • Phillips Hue Lamp Holder?

I was thinking of buying the Phillips Hue WiFi lamp bulb set to go behind my TV to provide ambient lighting in whatever color I wish.

What I'm looking for is a lamp holder capable of taking three regular light bulbs ideally spaces about eight to twelve inches apart. I'm thinking like the lights you often see above the mirror in bathrooms, but one that would plug into the wall and sit on a table or desk (or in this case behind a TV).

Has anyone seen a simple three bulb light fixture like this? And if so could you link to where one could buy one?

  • Can anyone identify this British moth?

My father took a picture of this unusual moth in Yorkshire, England. It is rather unusual in appearance. Can anyone tell me what it is? Any moth experts in the house?

  • If Obama is so bad, why the lies?

Conservatives are currently running with the completely unsubstantiated lie that Obama is going to spend $200 million a day on his India visit. Some have claimed the trip will cost 'billions.' Clearly there is no evidence to support this at all. So my question is this: If President Obama is so terrible and bad (Hitler / evil / socialist / marxist etc.) why not attack him for the bad things he has done rather than just making up random lies about him?

  • Obama's Trip To India?

Why do Republicans keep claiming that Obama is going to spend two billion dollars on his state visit to India? I've seen Republicans talk about $200m per day, right up to two billion dollars for the complete trip. None of these figures are even remotely close to reality, and have simply been plucked out of the sky. So my question is, if Obama is such a horrible leader, why do his detractors have to make up lies in order to show us how bad he is?

  • Spiritually speaking, how should society punish this man?

A Wisconsin man was recently convicted of killing his daughter through negligence. The girl became sick and he believed the parts of the Bible that claim that God will heal the sick.

So the man decided not to take his daughter to the doctor, but instead prayed to God for a healing.

The healing never came and now the girl is dead.

The question is, do we punish the man for killing his daughter, or do we simply accept that the death was God's will. After all God knew the girl was going to die, and He chose not to heal her, and chose not to advise the father to seek medical help. So can we really punish a man who was just doing what God wanted?

If he is to be punished, do we go eye for an eye and put him to death? Or do we accept God's will and let him go free?

  • Apple iPhone 3G Sound Issues?

The other day after installing an app I lost all sound effects from my phone. The noise when you lock it, when you unlock it, when you type, when you get email, when you get text messages etc. I think it still rings, and it works with Pandora Radio, or as an iPod.

I uninstalled the most recent application installation. And later did a full back up and restore from iTunes. I have the latest firmware.

I have checked the sound options in settings and they are all correct.

    Any ideas?

  • Wordpress Blog Question?

I'm using Wordpress for a blog I run. We seem to be getting a lot of spam sign ups for membership, which doesn't achieve anything since the blog is fully moderated. However, it is annoying because a bunch of the sign ups are clearly not from our members, and are most likely some kind of spam sign up.

So my question is, what is the easiest way of preventing automated member sign ups? Is there a nice plug in I could install? Thanks.

  • How to cook an egg in boiling water?

This is a really basic question.

So you take a pan of boiling water, break an egg into it and 3.5 minutes later fish it out. You have a nice white egg with a slightly runny yolk.

Now I have heard that there are things you can add to the water to improve this method of cooking eggs. If so what is recommended? And has anyone ever heard of adding vinegar, if so why?

  • I think my fridge is broken?

I have a GE side by side refrigerator with ice maker and door dispenser. I've noticed in the past few days that the refrigerator side is not that cool, even on the highest setting. It is definitely not performing as well as it normally did.

It's about three years old, the lights still work, and the freezer side seems to be working okay.

Is there anything I can check or do without calling an expensive repair man?

  • GTA:IV - Safe Place To Store Cars?

Anyone know of a safe place to keep cars in GTA:IV? I've placed them in the reserved parking area outside a safe house, like I am supposed to. But sometime a taxi or other car knocks them out of the space and they disappear. So far I have lost the Comet that I won in my first race, and the Ferrari that Bertie gave me. It's really annoying.

  • GTA:IV - Moonbeam Van?

At some point in the game you get a text message about a Moonbeam van parked somewhere and someone wants you to steal it. Well I got the van, the game tells me I found it, but I have no idea where to take it. What are you supposed to do with it once you have it?

  • GTA:IV - Friends?

I know that being friends with a certain character gets you special abilities. For example, being friends with Roman gets you cab service. I've heard that this is activated at a certain percentage of friendship. So how do you tell how friendly you are with a person? Where can you look up your friend percentage?

  • GTA:IV - Sleeping?

So what's the point of sleeping in GTA? It saves the game, and the game time advances six hours. But since the game is auto-saved after each mission, what do I really gain by going back to the safe house and sleeping?

  • Are META tags dead?

I've seen a few articles stating that META tags are dead. That they were so abused and manipulated by spammers, that search engines barely take any notice of them these days. I just finished a web site this weekend, and I was wondering if it is worth using them at all?

I've got valuable content, I've ALT tagged my images, I've got <title>s that relate to my pages. Should I bother with the META tags or not?

If so which ones do you recommend, and why?

Please only reply if you are knowledgeable about web design and the use of META tags in general.

    Thanks!

  • UK Car Prices?

Can someone explain to me why British cars are so expensive? I know they have to put the steering wheel on the other side, but you'd think that the incredibly strong Sterling would offset that. I've just been thumbing through a UK Top Gear Magazine and Brits are being screwed! Pretty much any car you care to mention is double the price of the US equivalent. I was thinking of moving back to the UK in the next few years, but being ripped off was one of the reasons I left in the first place.
