Where did the phrase"Goodnight,sleep tight"originate from?

    In the late 1500's mattresses were secured on the bed frames with rope,when you pulled the ropes,the mattress tightened making the bed firmer to sleep on.

    It was from Shakespearean times when mattress were held up by ropes that got pulled tight before people went to bed at night.
