In primary school we learnt sentence & use capital letters ? If so why can’t use them while email and answerin

What we do will become an habit. Can’t we use answering and question to improve our communication skills. Instead of being little lazy, can’t we use proper language and proper presentation.

Ok I know you are going to come and fight with me. But before that have a second thought about it.

After reading this if your answering and questioning presentation improves I will be very happy.

Now question again:

Is using short cuts and unconventional writing a must for email and chat?

Update:

----------------------------------------...

Don’t forget to star, if you find the question interesting. However I always ask myself this question, why do people answer, if they don’t find the question interesting … :) :) :)

    Dear,

For sure I am one of the biggest culprits in this category, even after your constant advices :)

I completely agree that we should show our knowledge in every field wherever we go, so is it for english speaking and writing. We must use those basics that we were taught in junior school and not forget them in this mob of people throwing slangs and incomplete and rough english. That would be truly utilising one's education.

No arguments about what you said, you are for sure correct.. and I must tell this that you always use proper and correct english here too( as well as in every mail), so should I and everyone. It takes a little more time and little effort to change the habit, but once we start writing it that way we will appreciate it.

Using short cuts is never a must anywhere.. except maybe during fast dictations.

Alright, I will try to follow this advice of yours now onwards.. I might make mistakes still because i have got a bad habit of quick writing now, but I'll try sincerely.

Thank you for reminding me and all others.

See, you can note the change in this answer also ! But its not just for this one, I'll try to continue.

    regards,

    Madhavi.

Capital and minuscule letters are differentiated in the Roman, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian and Coptic alphabets. Most writing systems (such as those used in Georgian, Glagolitic, Arabic, Hebrew, and Devanagari) make no distinction between capital and lowercase letters, a system called unicase. Indeed, even European languages did not make this distinction before about 1300; both majuscule and minuscule letters existed, but a given text would use either one or the other. In alphabets with a case distinction, capitals are used for capitalization, acronyms, and emphasis (in some languages).Capitalization is the writing of a word with its first letter in uppercase and the remaining letters in lowercase. Capitalization rules vary by language and are often quite complex, but in most modern languages that have capitalization, the first word of every sentence is capitalized, as are all proper nouns. Some languages, such as German, capitalize the first letter of all nouns; this was previously common in English as well. (See the article on capitalization for a detailed list of norms).

It's all about time and speed. The Internet created this mentality in us all. Yes short cuts are essential. Especially when you're texting on the cell. It's far from the comforts of a desktop keyboard. Chat rooms can move fast. When their busy it's handy to have a short hand system that's readable. Otherwise you'll just get left behind. Plus if you're not a good typist. It helps speed you up. I agree theirs some terrible grammar on here at times but that's what happens when you allow 13 year olds.

Even now primary schools teach in the same pattern. Having been trained like that, even now I am very careful about my spellings and punctuation and grammer. I guess I am still in the old school!!

I suppose nowadays people have no time to check all this and just want to go ahead and make their messages clear not minding how right they are.

I am sure all those teachers and parents who taught them would be shocked to see all these shortcuts and horrible mispellings!! Long live the English language!!

I am not anal about it, but it really does annoy me to see "text" typing in here... Really, most people who use a computer often enough can type as fast as they think - text speaking was intvented to save money, and as it costs no extra and it only takes a few more seconds, I apreciate it when people type properly...

I also think it says something about that person, that they are usually young, lazy, think its cool? Think its funny that some people cant understand what they are saying... I don't know, but I never have a high opinion of those who write that way (unless its in a text, then I don't mind... I am poor, I do it myself.. he he)

ofcourse it is because when u take a test or something you will probably write well but when u are emailing and chatting you will be able to write in any format. YOU may write as u like or as u want to write whatever.! but u have to save time in ur life if u want to save even a little bit of time in your life you must use shortcuts and dont waste time exactly how it should be*!

got a star for u byebye.....

Good English is a habit for me. I use it even when emailing or answering questions on here.

I agree. people should proofread what they type before they post their questions or answers. but when it's email, that's personal and doesn't have to follow the rules strictly. it's a lot easier to read and understand if the rules are followed, however.

We should...but it is not good to criticise people who have bad english like me...here some people are bothered only about correct english...they are not interested in correct answer.
