Dice a medium onion, and add to the pot. Pour a jar of your favorite BBQ sauce into the pot, and add the ribs. Cover and turn the cooker on low. It's ready in 8 hours.

Add lipton onion soup mix and water to your short ribs, cook. When done, pour the drippings into a sauce pan and make your own BBQ sauce. First start with basic 1/2 c. apple juice or apple cider, 1/2 c. another juice (pineapple, orange, etc.), 1/2 c. brown sugar, and 1/2 c. of ketchup. Then add seasonings according to your taste buds. Honey, molasses, liquid smoke, vinegar, mustard, onion and/or garlic powder, salt & pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, etc. Boil sauce until desired thickness and then pour over short ribs. Let sit for a few hours (for flavor to sink into the meat), and then serve.

I just throw them in the crock pot with a bottle of beer and a bottle of my favorite bbq sauce. Salt and pepper the ribs before you put them in. Add a little water to the beer/bbq sauce mix (don't need much) and let it cook long and slow. They will be falling off the bone delicious.

Cover ribs with smocky bar-b-q sauce , leave in fridge overnight.Cook as you like, grillled slowly or in crock pot slowly.
