I will not buy anything nor do i really want to download something that could have a virus.

download the DVD videosoft studio manager (its free and i can guarantee it doesnt have any viruses) and convert the file into an mp4. then put it into itunes and sync it to your ipod

there isn't any way to do it unless you download a program to do it.
the program is called 'handbreak'. you can google it. you'll have to load your videos through handbreak and then to itunes.
