HELP! Changed Password on my computer and forgot it. How do I rectify my mistake?

SO, I did a stupid. I changed the password on my personal computer for security reasons and now can't remember it. I have tried every possible varient I can think of that I might have used, but no good. I have been trying for three weeks and have exhausted all ideas.

Does anyone know how I can break into my computer. I really need a file off of it soon. I am not a computer svant and would appreciate any advice from someone who is. Thanks!

Update:

To clarify for those wondering:

* It is my computer in my research lab

* I change the password every time an employee/student leaves

* It contains data from student experiments

* I know it was stupid to forget the password

* Asked the school tech guys but they won't touch it since it is not a school purchased computer. I bought it with grant money.

Normaly to avoid this particular mistake windows created a administrator logon with the person name who register in instalation.

and created another only with the name Administrator and this one only can be accesed en starup, when windows screen showup press F8 and select SafeMode then don't you use your logon name you use as ID=administrator and for pass you only press enter and then go to controlpanel, users accounts, select you logon name, change pass and that is,after you reestart you pc.

If this not work then use passport recovery a tool that you get in the net then burning into a CD and made bootable.

There are several Linux utilities to reset NT (2000/XP etc.) passwords.

    One is here:
