Watch out. You are very vulnerable to a con woman. many times they want lots of money and even promise the baby to more than one couple. Or, they change their minds at the last minute unless you cough up more money.

Get a lawyer, fsat.

Michelle, GOD is GOOD, well as you know you need an attorney, Did you all try legal aid they will direct into the right path and or you may go on the internet and locate local attorney's that will draw up some simple documents at low cost to you and your husband, but make sure that she can and will not change her mind, or contact your local court system for help they can lead you all in the right direction but don't give them to much info, just ask question as if your asking for someone else. You may be able to do this as low as under $1000.00, if she doesn't ask for any money because that is not legal, you may only help with food and doctors payments. Congrads and the Best of Luck.

I agree, you need to be protected FIRMLY before you just take this baby. Sorry but sometimes people are not meant to have children and honestly why on Earth did you wait 20 years?????? Adoption, even foster care have been around longer than that.

Step 1 - Initial Contact

It is very important to educate yourself about adoption and research all of your options. This is your Adoption Plan and it is important for you to feel comfortable with your decision and have all of your needs met.
