AVG-free 7.5 virus question?
I've used AVG-free for the past several years, and currently using 7.5. My understanding is there is a free version 8.0, but I have not been notified of its availability, even though it says it should come out during the first quarter of 2008. My husband also has the same virus scan on his computer, and he has already gotten the free 8.00 version and is downloading it. Why have I not received mine? Any computer experts out there who use the free version, and could answer my question?

I've been with AVG 7.5 for a while and found the new 8.0 just recently. Installed that on several computers of mine and it seems working ok. It claims to be not only anti-virus, but anti-spyware. In return, there are some ads in it. Just like you, I wonder why AVG7.5 does not prompt me to upgrade to 8.0. Maybe because the two are quite different? Just go ahead and use AVG8.0 and good luck.

Mini me complains about version 8, well I installed it today and it has found a considerable number of spyware items. 7.5 was just an A/V but this seems to be an all round better performer. Just go to Grisoft for the download. and get it.

Please don't use version v.8, i installed and found that startup time was longer, to the point i found an A.I.O disk i had made for back up purposes and reinstalled v.7.
They have put a silly check link thing that slows web page load and if you turn of that element then you get a warning, well why a warning i want it off.
