Isn't it interesting that many conservatives believe waving the Confederate flag is ok?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=At5Qx...

And they try to justify their love for the treasonous symbol by saying things like "ohh no, it represents southern heritage, and umm umm geometrical shapes and uhhhh cool colors--not southern secession from the union!"

Wow.

Speaks loads.

Forget liberals being so, THESE people are the ones that are anti-american, no doubt.

Pretending that the Confederate flag represents anything other than southern secession from the union (treason) is the equivalent of preaching Marxist rhetoric and wearing pro-socialistic signs and waving communist flags and then poorly justifying it by saying "I'm not Socialist! I just like red colors and communist history!"

Update:

Where do democrats and barack obama and liberalism being closer to marxism (by the way, the analogy up there ^ was just an analogy) come into the picture?

Update 2:

I never said people who wave the flag are marxists. It's called an ANALOGY, people

Update 3:

Mel: sorry, I don't read the Alabaman-sponsored REVISED and REWRITTEN History of the US. I read the real history of the US. Or maybe you just can't answer my question so you give a non-answer.

America Forever: thanks for demonstrating my point through your non-answer. You don't answer because you can't answer. thanks.

Update 4:

Mel: I'm waiting for you to enlighten me. Or, more appropriately, "re"-educate me

Update 5:

Bluebird: many things are a part of american history. That doesn't mean it's appropriate to support killing students on college campuses protesting wars (Kent State) or shooting political rivals (Aaron Burr).

You think as long as it's in american history it's ok to do?

Update 6:

There were no historical innacurracies in my post.

And I'm not saying waving the flag should be banned. I'm saying it's anti american, like burning the american flag.

i can only guess that you are laughing hysterically at the answers you have received. of course these same people who secretly delight in the discomfiture of blacks when this flag is flown are the same lynch mobs that want obama run out of the country because he's so unpatriotic. the swastika was outlawed after the nazis lost ww2 because it was such a hateful symbol. of course you're talking to the "america is never wrong" crowd so that argument probably won't get much purchase with them.

It has nothing to do with conservatism or liberalism.

There is no denying its a symbol of slavery to most Americans and why most Americans oppose the flag being used as a State or Federal symbol.

All it does is make healing racial differences that much harder, there is already enough politicians and so called leaders who use race as a wedge.

Why don't you get a life, this is a part of American History and will never be wiped out by changing the name of it or burning its flag. .

I suppose you think it was wrong for us to have ended World War II with the A Bomb. That should have been enough, but Japan did not surrender thus the second bomb.

As far as the conservative issue goes, thank God there are a lot of them around.

Just because many say the Nazi flag is worse, doesn't mean I think the confederate flag is OK.

"The Nazi flag represents 6 million people being systematically extreminated. All other meanings have been erased from the collective memory.

"The only thing worse about the Confederate flag is that more people in America are still waving it.

"I look forward to the time when both flags will be found only in history books!"

But in your twisted mind, that means I think the confederate flag is OK.

Earth to Harry! It's time for a reality check. Conservatives are not running around the country waving Confederate flags. They are too busy making money, raising families, and paying taxes to support losers who complain about these sort of TOTAL NON ISSUES.

Interesting yes but I don't see the problem. There's a first amendment right to fly that flag like there is to wave the socialist flag.

Freedom of speech wasn't invented for those views everyone agrees with but on the contrary to protect controversial views from arbitrary prosecution. Flying the Confederate flag as offensive as it is is not comparable to flying the Nazi flag, not even close.

    Marxism is not anti American.

It's funny, you'd go to court to support the Klan's right to wave a Nazi German flag in a predominately Jewish neighborhood with no consideration as to what that flag stood for.

I never heard anyone at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert object to their use of a "rebel flag" in their shows or refer to them as "marxists," either.

If someone wants to wave a Confederate flag, they have a right to free speech, just as the liberals claim "free speech" is being projected by the burning of the U.S. flag.

EDIT: the person who quoted "Stuck in the Middle," that was Stealer's Wheel, not Steve Miller.

    Sorry.

    You're not the "decider".

    You're the "loser".

I'll wave it if I want to.

You have no right to interfere.

If you do, I'll introduce you to my Second Amendment rights.

  • I don't think it is ok and I would not do it. I am from the north, but even so, i would not so it because it may send the wrong message.

Isn't it interesting how many Mexican liberals believe waving the Mexican flag is ok in America. Son of a Gun.
