Singapore: Bus fare dodgers can be fined too?
Other than those who misuse concession cards, such
as those meant specifically for students or full-time national servicemen, how can people cheat -
Is it not electronic where you tap the card when you board or alight the Bus and enter or exit the MRT- Is not the fare auto computed and deducted accordingly??
Also how can people use expired cards?? It would show no funds once you tap it on the reader.
I found this report very strange that so many people try to get away with it..

Hey Ajeet. Yes, this has happen since long time ago where magnetic farecard is used in Singapore in 1992. I grow up in this era of fare card and has sawn many cases such as this. I think that the machine maybe overwork and has misfunction sometimes due to overuse. This will make the machine haywire and it will start deducting from the cards anyhow. As for other circumstances, this is quite strange and I also not quite sure. But machine, like human beings, do make mistake too. So it may just happen just like that, with no explanation to be found.
