Who is Rick Roll? What is Rick Roll'd?

Okay, wow... so much false information.

To Rickroll is to intentionally misdirect one to a video of "Never Gonna Give You Up" from one-hit-wonder 80's pop icon Rick Astley.

Rickrolling began on 4chan's /v/ imageboard on the day of Grand Theft Auto 4's official website premier. However, due to heavy traffic on the website, it was impossible to watch the trailer for quite some time, so Anonymous took it upon himself to link everyone to a leaked trailer hosted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0.

The prank gets its name in part from the duckroll through the similar intent of pissing off everyone by deception.

To fall for it is to be "Rick Roll'd".

It spread, and now everyone does it. It's become an old meme.

What is Rick Roll'd?

Rick Astley is a totally annoying pop singer from the 1980s. When someone "Rick Rolls" you, they trick you into clicking on a link, leading you to believe it's a link to something else.

But when you get to the desginated link and it turns out to be a video clip of "Never Gonna Give You Up," (or one of his other equally annoying songs), you have been "Rick Rolled."

It's when someone makes you watch a crappy video by Rick Astley from the 80s. If you fall for it you have been "rick roll'd".

I know! I was like wtf?? But after reading ^^^ their answers I finally get it! lol it's a prank. You click a link, and it's supposedly suppose to take you somewhere else, but it takes you to Rick Astley's music vid.
