Warhammer 40K....?

Is there a guide to the language of the Imperial High Gothic stuff that's available for free so I can check out the language? The "Histye, Soule" stuff that was featured with the non-partisans in Traitor General by Dan Abnett...?

If there is, it's lying to you.

Dan's a great writer of exciting fiction, but a neolinguist he ain't. The various pseudolanguages he portrays in his 40k fiction don't actually have any internal logic or grammar except what sounds right at the time. The minor exception is Glossia, used in the Eisenhorn trilogy, which does possess some degree of logic but, as it's a code not a language, the logic is highly subjective. One can't "learn" Glossia as a language. If you're smart enough, you can speak it naturally. If you aren't, you can't.

"High Gothic" as it is portrayed in the Warhammer 40k background is often shown as a Latin-like language but it is not, by any stretch, actually Latin. The phrases use Latin-sounding structures which don't actually conform with any grammar or structure and the "rule of cool" applies: i.e. if it sounds good, use it. The important thing is that, despite looking exotic or archaic, the intelligent reader should be able to pretty much work out what any given High Gothic phrase means, more or less.

I desire only warhammer. 40K is extra straightforward yet there are people who nonetheless play the unique.bypass to video games workshop and that they'll clarify the two forms of the sport, and supply you and help which you quite want.
