Poll: Do you think that with the popularity of texting, emails and blogs that people have lost many social?
skills needed? Such as how to have a conversation with a person, look them in the eye, properly compose your thoughts, and convey them to another person in the flesh.
Good point Don, but I think its worse when they are driving and looking down at their phone trying to text while attempting to kill other people on the highway.

It really depends on the person. I constantly see teens start to incorporate "lol" and other abbreviations into their work, but others do not. As a majority, I would definitely say that many people nowadays are losing vital social skills. We are so used to dealing with our problems via computer screen that we start to "freak out" when it comes to a face-to-face confrontation.

I'm taking it you don't "drive"...all one need do is get behind the wheel of a vehicle...there's an instantaneous realization that 90% of the world is driving too slow, they're in the passing lane and a f*cking phone is glued to the side of their head...for gods sake hang up the f*cking phone and DRIVE you imbeciles...
How could you ask a question about social skills...PLEASE...these morons haven't realized there are other people on the face of the earth other than the idiot they're talking to on the other end of the line... There's no such thing as respect, courtesy or even just plain COMMON SENSE...

His commonplace approval score isn't taking a brilliant hit, yet once you pollon guy or woman matters, his numbers are diving. human beings are understanding that electing a guy on account which you like his character and not via fact he's have been given the qualifications to get the pastime accomplished shouldn't instruct out properly. In his first a hundred days he's been to blame for the biggest spending boost in historic previous, impressive will boost in government means, broken all styles of grants, almost sparked a commerce conflict, seems reason on turning the american motor vehicle industry into one that is politically superb and not financially attainable, and much extra different issues than I even have room to record here. McCain wasn't precisely a brilliant option, yet electing Obama became a terrible determination and persons are waking as much as this.

I see some people who lost any social skills when there were just phones. I like to see people in person if possible, but often one must send some messages by phone or e-mail. I do not use text messaging or blogs.

I agree with you completely on this issue. In this age of instant gratification I believe that we have lost a some basic social interaction skills and decent behavior among one another. Not to mention all the short cuts in vocabulary and grammar skills.

I think we are losing that slowly. Although everyday places like school, work, and public places force us to keep those skills fresh in mind. I don't think we will ever completely lose our ability to hold a real conversation, but with all the technology we have it is becoming harder. I guess it depends on the person though.

Yes I think so! I only get a text for birthdays etc now from my kids instead of a card!
Call me old fashioned but I still write lots of letters to pen pals all over the UK and do them all be hand with a Fountain Pen.

Yes I do .. & this is a good question ! .. It is sad to say but I would much rather hold a conversation with someone on IM / Email / Texting, then in actual person . I hope this changes as I get older ..

Yes, and I think it's making people a lot more lazy as well. My friend will text me just to tell me she's outside my place instead of just calling or simply getting out of the car and knocking on the front door!

I think the technological advances in the world have vastly changed the way people communicate one-on-one and have wreaked havoc on many necessary social skills
