Golf club choice?
I am 15 years of age and play high school golf. My rounds range from mid-80's to around 100. I'm a decent ball striker, if my swing is well grooved on that day. But I'm still tinkering with my swing so much that I have a hard time finding what truly works. I've been using "smaller" cavity-backs (Maxfli Revolution Black Dots). They have brought me a lot of good shots and I've always loved the look of a smaller clubhead and minimal offset. My question is, now that I'm ready to buy new irons, could I look towards a blade if I work hard and long with them and use the feedback to fix my swing? Or is this too risky, and should I stick to a smaller cavity back?

You could consider a blended set of irons. These offer cavity backs (or even hybrids) for the long irons and progessively move towards blades in your scoring (short) irons. KZG makes a fabulous set that are all custom built. Nike made the pro combo's a few years ago. Your best bet is to find a good clubfitter and have them mix/match a set to suit your game. Not only will they be fit to you (an absolute must) but they'll be suited to your game.

You shouldn't get blades or a hybrid set. At your age you will most likely be playing lots of golf in the next few years (I'm extremely jealous) and your best bet would be to stick with the smaller cavity backs or a muscle back design. With the advances in technology lately a lot of the cavity back and muscle backs offer forgiveness combined with the feedback you look for in a blade. I would personally suggest the Ping S58 irons. They set up great and have, in my opinion the best balance of forgiveness and feedback. If you aren't looking to spend $800 on a new set, the older S59's, which I still play and love, are the perfect set for you. At your age I switched to a set of true blades and it improved my game, but only after months of squirting it around the course. A set of the smaller cavities or a forgiving muscle back is appropriate for any player breaking 100 and offers exactly what you need for improvement.
