I can't stand country music but my BF loves it. He introduced me to Johnny Cash. I must admit I really enjoyed some of his songs .... but only a few. :P

No you are not and don't let your friends "dictate" what you listen to. That man is a legend and has influenced many rock artist who aren't ashamed to admit that fact.
