Vapor barrier for shower remodel?

I have gutted the bathroom tub area to the studs and have a 32X60 Swanstone retrofit shower floor to install. The largest wall is an exterior wall and I can see the 15lb felt. I will be insulating all 3 walls with paper faced insulation. My question is how far down do I apply the felt and do I need to cut slashes in the insulation since that is a vapor barrier also? The instructions for the swanstone shower floor show the cement board behind the lip edge of the shower base then thinset and tiles to bring it even with the edge.
