Can rubber bands be recycled?

I get a rubber band on my newspaper everyday and I don't want to just throw them away... what can be done with them?

Better. They can be reused. I place a slew of them on my sledge hammer, just under the head. It protects the handle if I should miss the wedge I'm aiming at.

I reuse them. I save them and other such items, like the thingee that closes your produce bag at the grocery store. Reduce reuse recycle. By reusing, you reduce the materials going to the landfill.

But now you got me thinking; why can't we manufacture biodegradable rubber bands? Or do we already?

You can make a big rubber band ball.Or you could save them up and give them back to the newspaper person.

It depends. Call your local recycling station to find out.

They will enrich the soil if you discard them. That is they are compostable and can be tossed on the ground anywhere.

But it would be a good move to turn them in for reuse.

Please donate them to a school or to a local support organization that offers support to those in need.
