Radio 4 & 7 work well for me. You get both serious drama and comedy. BBC world service makes a change, its excellant coverage of of world events. Many areas have their own bbc radio stations dedicated to that area and its community so its always a good place to start.

    why not visit www.bbc.co.uk.

Click on radio tab and there you will find a selection of stations to choose from or you could type the name of your area into the site search box to find your local station.

(don't forget the many other independant stations who offer a mix of conversation and music).

Radio 2. No question. Good range of music, and not too much blethering, but enough, and usually humorous.

I switched from Radio 1 to Radio 2 a few years back when I noticed that the fast-beat stuff they play at rush-hour just helped wind me up when sat in traffic.

I thought everybody over 30 listened to Radio 4! At home we switch between Radio 4 (default), Radio 7 (for comedy) and The Arrow (for music we remember!)

Get a digital radio and explore what`s available .Radio 7 is the only thing close to R4, indeed it`s mostly repeats of R4 comedy sometimes 3 times a day! Then they repeat the same prog. again every couple of months. On reflection , save your money .Digital radios are overpriced and rumoured to be folding up. Hum a tune to yourself instead then you have a wider choice of what you can listen to.

Radio 4 and Radio 7. Don't miss 'Just a minute' on 4 and 'Sorry I haven't a clue' (if it continues after dear Humph's demise). R7 is littered with some great old comedy shows.

Radio 5 (909/693 am). No music, just news and sport (mainly listen for the sport, but Simon Mayo 's afternoon show and Drive are usually fairly entertaining.)
