How do I get Clssmates.com to issue public apology?

When I saw that they updated my sister's Bio this week after being dead doe over a year, I wanted an explanation as to why and how this could happen. I also wanted them to apologize to all the members of Classmates.com for their incompitent handling of this matter. I emailed them the day after my sister died, to inform them of her passing and that was never acknowledged. How do I get a response from them other than " You have our sincerest condolences"?

A public apology is typically not given unless the company did a colossal mistake. Classmates.com will not issue a public apology unless you try to take legal action.

Your incident was a mistake. Classmates.com does not track all of the members and does not realize when a member has passed away.

You should have written classmates.com and requested that they remove your sister's account because of the situation. The biographies are automatically updated by a computer. All biographies are updated...they won't exclude your sister from the updates regardless of her circumstance.

Classmates.com doesn't care that it's members have passed away. You need to specifically request that the profile be removed.

They have apologized to you. There is no need for them to apologize publicly.

Here's the form http://www.classmatesmedia.com/contact/form.jsp mention that you want the profile removed. No big deal.

overlook their faux pas, but only because it's an automated website and no one really is therefore responsible for the error. The CSR's aren't going to apologize, nor are the owners who weren't aware of the situation not plugged in the info onto the website. You received the "best" answer anyone anywhere could give, and that was "you have our sincerest condolences"...so accept those and move on. The situation definitely means a lot to you, but to no one else, and no matter what you do you won't get them to do more. Sorry but that's the internet for you...it's not the human touch, it's automation.

You say you were never acknowledged, yet your last sentence makes it seem as if they told you "You have our sincerest condolences." That's quite contradicting, so which is it? Why do you feel they owe you an apology? It's not their responsiblity to make sure the profiles are deleted after someone has passed away. For that matter, what do you really care that it's still up? Anyone close enough to her will know she has passed. If you're really concerned about it, there has to be a way to delete the account. But I think you're majorly over-reacting.

LadyMady, if you want to keep pursuing this; Go to their site www.Classmates.com and click on the management section - there you will get the VIPs of the company.

I realize the anger you have, but in all honesty, hun, they have apologized for the mix-up, even if it seems cold ... and informal. I'm not sure you will get any better response.

Pick your battles carefully. Somethings can only go so far, then a person has to either drop them or get consumed by them and turn bitter.

  • OMG - girl...how about you pick up the phone and call her "CLOSE FRIENDS" that really should know. I don't think that classmates.com should apologize to you or anybody else for this.

for you to go on with your life.. I must do this:

    Dear Ma'am:

I am so sorry of the passing of your sister. we were hardbroken to hear about it. Please accept our apologies and deepest sympathies.

    yours truely, Classmates.com

Drop this. You are making too much of a big deal about it. They updated the bio and condolences were given. Databases are hard to main. Human error is rampant in any organization. You should be compassionate enough to realize that. Move on.

I am sorry for your loss.

What??? They have apologized already. Why do you feel they need to issue a public apology?

i really dont think thats necessary. plus, not for nothing, but who, in their right mind, is thinking about contacting classmates a day after they lost their sister?

    ps: sorry for your loss.
