This is the 8th Day I've taken the yasmin birth control pill?
My doctor told me when she prescribed me this birth control that it is NOT true that it takes a month or two weeks or anything for a birth control pill to become effective. She says with more research they have found now that it starts to work within the first couple of days...I had sex with my boyfriend today, the 8th day of the pill, which i have been taking on time regularily everyday, and it was unprotected. We just had a baby two months ago, is it possible even though I was told that the pill works right away by my doctor that I could become pregnant? I am also still nursing my 2 month old. Anyone have any comments?

First of all, the doctor is correct -- the pill is effective with 7 days continuous usage.
The one or two month thing is to make sure the user is taking it correctly ALL the time; most pill-related pregnancies occur within the first 6 months because women forget their pills.
The bonus is that you are breast feeding your baby. Even though this is not a fool-proof method of contraception it IS a good means of backup.
So I would say that you're as safe as you're going to be. Just remember: NO METHOD IS EVER 100% EFFECTIVE.

1) Yasmine becomes effective immediately if you start taking it at the first day of your period. This is standard procedure. Start with your period. Then you do not need to wait for having sex (but you might want to wait till end of your period anyway).
Note that this is stated clearly in the manual of Yasmin: "Day 1 Start".
2) If started later than day 3 of your cycle, efficacy in this whole cycle might not be guaranteed. Use another contraception method this cycle. Continue to take the pills, though.
