Martian Boogie by Brownsville Station? Even if it's not the one you mean, it's a great song, it rocks & is very funny.
Okay, sorry. That's one of my all time fav songs though.
I know Harry Nilsson did a song called "The Flying Saucer Song", but I haven't been able to find the lyrics for it. Time frame seems about right so maybe that's the one you're looking for. Good luck!
