    How about High Fidelity? Its funny and fast paced. It's the book the John Cusak movie was based on about 10 years ago.

    Possession by A. Byatt - a book about other (fictional) writers, a mystery to unearth about them and a historical novel!

    Life of Pi by Yann Martel...one of those you have to read, and then find yourself asking, 'why did I read that?' but feeling a lot better for it! Watch out for those bookworms though, proper nibbled my toes!

    If you've already read that, go for a bit of Shakespeare, you can't go wrong there!
