Do you think it makes any sense for the U.S, to export the oil it produces & then import oil from the Arabs?

I fail to see why we export our own oil & then buy oil from other countrIes We not only pay more for the oil we also have to pay extra for having it shipped here. Where is the logic in this?

Update 2:

Seem that the Amount we export is equal to the amount we import back from OPEC this makes aboulutely no sense at all

No, it doesn't. That is why there has to be more to your statement than that.

Most of what we export are oil based products. America manufactures and exports more chemicals than any country in the world. (Also, shampoo, cosmetics, and medicines contain oil based products ). Domestic chemical production is decreasing because of China is devaluing its currency. That creates a loss of American jobs.

We export very little of our oil, and I think it all has to do with treaty promises that we've made to other countries. For instance, our treaty with North Korea was that if we provided them oil (i.e. energy), they wouldn't need to build Nuclear Power plants. (which they violated).

You might want to find out to whom we send 'our' oil, and why. It's probably more interesting than you could have possibly imagined.

Nothing makes sense to me when it comes to the government. I mean why do the retired politician's and their wives get monthly checks from the government and have health care paid for and our troops fight for our freedom, put their lives on the line, (some die for this country) and come home and get on food stamps. That, my dear, is what does not make sense to me.
