What kind of duck do I now have?

A friend of mine just bought what was said to be Indian Runner Ducks because she was told they are the kind of ducks that are used to train hunting dogs. . . she bought them to save their lives but once she got them she didn't know what she was going to do with them so she has passed 6 of them off on me to put with my Peking Ducks and chickens.

It was told to her that Indian Runners are used for training because they don't fly and thus far these ducks haven't even tried.

I have researched Indian Runners and these ducks don't look anything like Indian Runners.

They are small ducks compared to my Peking Ducks.

Their bills are brown and their feathers are brown and somewhat look like a Rouen but not really.

Does anyone know if there is a specific breed of ducks that are especially used for training hunting dogs and if so what is that breed.

Could it possibly be a cross between maybe a mallard and a rouen?

Update:

If you go to Cackle Hatchery.com and look at the Rouen duck, this is as close to what I can describe this duck.

There are NO other markings on these ducks like those of the Harlequin.

When I say small, the best I can describe it is maybe 2lbs tops and almost the size of a good size chicken hen.

Do you know where I could find an illustrated picture of a Call Duck?

Don't guess it really matter what kind of duck they are, they are going to stay here regardless but I just tend to be a "wanna know" person.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated in solving this mystery.

Update 2:

I have researched every Duck site I can and the best I can come up with is they must be some kind of Rouen/Mallard mix.

There is no "upright" as an Indian Runner would suggest unless it comes on later as I believe these to be about 8-10wks old.

They really love the water pool I have for all my ducks. . . they are in it almost more than out of it.

They are still hanging together and haven't ventured out amongst the other ducks or chickens but I guess that over time they will.

Runnner ducks have a distinct upright way of going - they aren't like other ducks. You say they're small - how small?

Call ducks can be used for sporting dogs. There's also the Welsh Harlequin, the males look like a mallard "spruced up" with an artists' brush. They will have dark bills but as a rare reed I haven't heard of them being used for training dogs. They're from the family of the Khaki Campbell.
