How do you propose "restoring" this "Golden Age"?

In the same way that the Caliphates were established?

Islam did not have anything much to with the "Golden Age", incidentally. It was the work of a lot of people that made that possible. Just the fact that the Caliphs, of that period were more benevolent, helped.

However, if we were to go by the History of Islam, then, it surely doesn't present too attractive a picture.

Perhaps what the Muslims need to focus on, nowadays, is how will they get into the mainstream of the modern world.

Hanging gays, stoning women to death on the pretext that were adulteresses, attacking peaceful Buddhist monks and demanding a separate land for themselves, gang raping white women where the Imam blames the White Womens' lack of hijab for "arousing innocent Muslims", flying planes into buildings and bombing trains and all and sundry ... ... doesn't give anyone a good image of Islam.

And the fact that the Muslims who claim that only a very small percentage of their kind are doing this, while they [the large majority] do nothing to stop them or even help the Law Enforcement Officers to apprehend these culprits who conveniently hide in their midst and work with funds gathered from mosque collections ... ... isn't going to convince us that the Muslims are "innocent".

Perhaps working on these pressing issues is better suited than such "dreams" of "Golden Ages", don't you think?

    Peace.

The Golden Age of Islam was a Complete reformation in the Livelihood of the Whole world. Before the Europeans took it Over to them.

Islam was what caused this golden age and so it can still.

The requirement is that the people come back to the Believes and define what is like living in islam or a Muslim life, that is too much suppressed by the label of Orthodoxy of Muslims.

And we must also understand that Islam has not got to be a Culture rather a Belief.

Tomorrow will be Established if we build the Base today.

Really good questions today. Feather's question fits very well into this. We need the sharia back in our lives. Thats was the key of the golden era of Islam because there WAS Islam unlike today where its just a few rituals here and there but not in a state level.

  • i suggest while the past is essential to learn from, that we must live in the here and now while pursuing our deepest desires, dreams and aspirations; why not better think to creat a Golden age of now that will be devised with mechanisms to ensure the Golden age of the future... with equal liberty and justice for all.

I believe the Bible is the holy, inerrant word of God. The Old Testament and the New Testament were written by holy men of God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we accept the Old Testament to be a record and an example of what God allowed to happen among the Jewish people in antiquity. The New Testament records the birth, life, mission, death, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible predates the Quran and in it we read the admonition of the apostle Paul in Galations 1:8,9, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

We read in Deut. 4:2 the following,"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. " Therefore when Mohamed wrote the Quran 600 years after Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection he altered and changed the word of Almighty God. Mohamed was trying to unite the desert tribes and created Allah, the moon god of the pagans to the station of and a substitution for the one true God. Islam teaches violence against the infidels (us) while Jesus taught His followers to treat others with dignity, respect, and to love them. He was a man of peace. As such, judgment is of God and Him alone. Not by a group of religious fanatics whose sole goal in life is to force the conversion of others by force.

How can any reasonable human being want to be subjected to this

type of treatment or to Sharia law which is contrary to democratic values we appreciate. Rethink your position about this, many Muslims appreciate the opportunity to live in the United States and NOT be subjected to the Muslim laws.

Only God/Allah is competent to establish what is necessary to over come a dark age. If humans could unaided there'd be no dark ages.

Yes, education education, education, as one astute soul put it, but this education must be divine and moral, or it will only serve to foster the means of war, hatred, oppression, and bloodshed more. To be well educated in dogma and science alone is not desired, only the love of God/Allah and all mankind regardless of names can serve this end.

Unless they catch up with the scientific and technological advances of the West, there would be no golden age again.... !

That would mean reason would have to make a comeback in the Middle East.

  • I'd prefer building on the past greatness.
