Clearing Oxidized paint?

Silver car had oxidized paint from years of Neglect.

I don't mind getting it painted but the paint on the sides is fine this is just on the roof and the deck lid and hood. it isn't worn through to the primer and seems to have a good base.

Has anyone Successfully removed the oxidation to a point where painting isn't necessary. If so HOW??

Try Turtle wax rubbing compound. If the oxidation is not

too bad, use Turtle wax polishing compound. After the

shine is restored, apply a quality polish. These products

work very well for oxidized paint. We use these at the

    dealership I work at.
