What does the term "slow motion genocide" mean?

Decimating an ethnic group in order to establish another ethnic group as supreme and doing it bit by bit in the hopes of muting criticism. The ethnic cleansing of the Gaza is now under way. The habiru have been at this sort of thing whenever they have been in Palestine,whether 3500 B.B. or in our times. They also used a slow-motion approach and they still do.

Genocide is generally considered one of the worst moral crimes a government (meaning any ruling authority, including that of a guerrilla group, a quasi state, a Soviet, a terrorist organization, or an occupation authority) can commit against its citizens or those it controls. The major reason for this is what the world learned about the Holocaust, the systematic attempt of German authorities during World War II to kill all and every Jew no matter where found-to destroy Jews as a group. This murder of between 5 to 6 million Jews became the paradigm case of genocide and underlies the word's origin. As the world also learned about other genocides, there was an international attempt through the United Nations to make genocide an international crime and to bring its perpetrators to justice. Thus in 1948 it approved and proposed the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (UHCG), and most recently states signed into being the International Criminal Court (ICC). As a crime, the UHCG defined genocide as the intention to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such. The ICC accepts this definition, further elaborates it, provides broader jurisdiction, and can subject individuals regardless or status or rank to prosecution. Noteworthy is the fact that the ICC now covers not only genocide, but crimes against humanity that include, aside from genocide, government murder, extermination campaigns, enslavement, deportation, torture, rape, sexual slavery, enforced disappearance, and apartheid.

It is done by degrees over a very extended period of time. The repeated sieges of Gaza since 1967 would be an excellent example. I would also recommend "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" by Itan Pappe.

I didn't know it was against the rules to criticise an ethnic state. I don't consider that valid at all. In fact,I don't consider the concept of an ethnic state valid. I think it's fundamentally discriminatory.

Slow-motion genocide would be a perfect term for the consequences of jewish rule in Palestine.

Slow motion means killing people in a "civilized" manner since the age of information technology might work against one.

A graduated approach to genocide. The state of israel is a current example. They have been at it since 1947.

This means...in my words...This was first used to describe the holocost. That the holocost in dafnar was an attempt from hiltler to kill of the jews...slowly but surely.... Slow motion Genocide.......Genocide is an attempt to destroy an entire race, group, ethnic group..or religiion

Slowly killing of a race or group of people so tht it seems as though they are going missing so nobody finds out until later.

A good example would be the Israeli policy towards the Palestinians. It is intended to be inconspicuous.

you people are all wrong. it refers to the extermination of a race by means of miscegenation.

As used in this forum, it seems to mean, since people aren't being rounded up and killed, since there is no policy to eliminate a people, but since we have legitimate anger about the mistreatment of Palestinians, we will invent a meaningless inflammatory phrase. Or, perhaps to be fair, it isn't meaningless to those who believe there is a secret plan to kill all the Palestinians, just not an accurate belief.

As someone noted in another thread here, the Palestinian population is growing, not being decimated, and it remains ridiculous to compare this to real attempts at genocide like the organized murder of the majority of several million European Jews over the course of a few years. It ought to be possible to condemn Israeli policies without using such hyperbole.
