Depends on what you're driving. In a subcompact, no, that's not particularly good. In a mid-sized car or small SUV, that's pretty damn good.

In general, the higher the numbers for MPG, the better. That means that you can go further (more miles) on the same amount of gasoline (fewer fillups).

Is 24MPG city/32MPG highway a good thing? Depends - what are you comparing it against? For example:

Bad when compared against a Toyota Prius at 48mpg city/45mpg highway

Good when compared against a Chevrolet Tahoe 4wd Hybrid or GMC Yukon 1500 4wd Hybrid at 20 mpg city/20mpg highway

No difference when compared against a Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid or Saturn Aura Hybrid at 24mpg city/32mpg highway.

Not good enough. A Hybrid car will get you about 40 mpg in the city and 45mpg on the hwy.

Gas is about $4 dollars a gallon. Average car needs about 11 gallons to fill up. So that is 44 dollars plus tax. How much driving around do you do and how often will you have to fill up?

Check out HyridCars.com to learn more about them and who sells/makes them.

By next year we may be faced with having to pay $5. per gallon for gas. So Hybrids are looking good to me, because I travel a lot and I need to get the maximum usage out of the gas I purchase.

It was a year ago but now with the price of gas it is going to quickly be substandard. However as cars go that is pretty good but there are better out there.

This type of mileage isn't that good for a 4 or 6 cylinder car, considering a late model Corvette (w/427ci) is capable of this type of mileage.
