If the gum was sore before the tooth became loose, it could be gingivitis or gum disease in the begining stages. It is more likely that wiggling the tooth simply irritated the gum.
I've heard that ora-gel or similar topical tooth ache medications work well. I would stop wiggling it (yeah, that will be hard) and see a dentist.

the reason its swollen cuz you had been playing with it too much and that its loose plusyou should keep brushing your teeth keep it like at the 2 minutes mark or something then you should just go to ur dentist if it hurts so bad and probobly ask him to pull it off if its still a baby tooth and if its the permanent one you should consider on talking to him about it.

you irritated it while wiggling it around. Take some asprin and the pain will subside along with the swelling, and leave it alone. If the pain persists and you wake up with it tomorrow, call the dentist.

go to the dentist-your gums are officially infected. you will probably get good pain meds and antibiotics. if you don't you might end up saying goodbye to that tooth.

try mixing up warm water and salt, 1 glass of water and 2 tablespoons salt, fill your mouth with that and let it sit for a while then spit.
Go to the dentist and practice good hygiene helps too.

well what you need to do is rinse with Listerine every night and then you could put some oral jell on it to numb the gum so it wont hurt. :)) hope this helps
