My toddler threw a toy truck at my laptop and now there's a big black line on the screen, but otherwise ...

its working fine. Its going to be hard to type though because there's also a black splotch the size of a quarter?

Can it be fixed? Word to the wise: small children and electronic equipment don't mix!

The best thing to do is to get a new screen fitted on it.

I have had several problems with the screen myself and currently, I'm on my 3rd screen =)

You may get the line to go away by lightly rubbing a pencil eraser across the affected area. If you have "stuck" pixels, it may work

As for the splotch, the crystal inside the screen is probably cracked. I doubt that can be fixed.

If you are still under warranty and depending on the type of warranty you may be able to replace the screen.

This is assuming the lcd screen is broken. If its just a surface scratch, try removing it with a damp cloth

Yes it can be fixed. Usually laptop screens retail for around $300 plus labor.
