Does anyone remember this series of children's books?

I loved them when I was about 7 or 8 and I can't remember the name. All I remember is they took place on a farm in Wisconsin with a whole bunch of kids in the family and in one adventure the little sister got lost playing hide and seek, and in another the baby calf died and in another a visitor from Africa came to their school. Also, something about the donut machine at their church went crazy and started shooting donuts out. Oh Gosh, I wish I could find them!

    "Homer Price" by Robert McCloskey

"Homer Price is a quietly confident, unbefuddled, and laconic boy around whom a series of somewhat unusual events occur. In the most memorable episode, Homer tends his progress-seeking but work-shy uncle's lunch counter while its newfangled automatic donut machine, short a piece of its machinery, turns out thousands and thousands of donuts as crowds gather to watch. In other stories, Homer captures a team of robbers with the help of pet skunk Aroma, participates in the winding of what is thought to be the largest ball of string in existence, and helps the sheriff discover the identity of the mysterious stranger that has come to town."

I thin that there are websites that might be able to help you with this. Go on ask. com and type in children's books and search the sub categories

Or you can do what my child just suggested (out of the mouths of babes!) and go ask a librarian. They will be able to narrow it down and you can check them out for free!!!

    Good Luck!
