JRP is a scam.
I went to audition for JRP, i was very excited as any child would be. The room was swarming with kids all wanting the chance of getting a talent agent.
I did my audition [You have to read a script in front of the camera] and then i sang at the end (which is completely optional)
I left, and they said that we would be called on monday. They told us not to call them and gave us a booklet that said we had to pay half a million dollars for classes.
On monday they gave us a call and told us that i was "of the few" that made it which i knew to be a lie, as did my mother. She told them she would not be paying 1/2 a million dollars and if that is needed to count us out. The lady on the phone was like "Well, Obviously you don`t support your daughter enough ..etc " very rude. &Of course hung up.
First off, JRP is very misleading. At the audition they claimed to be a talent agency, however, later on he said they were NOT a talent agency and that they were an academy.
For those looking for a talent agency:
"The legitimate talent agency does not charge a fee payable in advance for registering you, for resumes, for public relations services, for screen tests, for photographs, for acting lessons, or for many other services used to separate you from your money. If you are signed as a client by a legitimate talent agency, you will pay such agency nothing until you work and then 10 percent of your earnings as a performer — but nothing in advance.
Agents do not advertise!
According to the indusrty's EIC Code of Ethics, talent and background agents cannot advertise to the general public.
Agents do not provide photographic services or give classes!
A reputable agent may suggest specific photographers or classes to you but cannot require you to use them.
Children and extras do not need professional-quality photos!
Babies and toddlers never need professional photos. Extras need to provide a snapshot to their agents. Children under the age of ten do not need professional photos unless they are working regularly.
An agent cannot guarantee work!
An agent who tells you that they have work for you must give you a copy of the signed contract along with the details of the job (who is hiring you, what you will be paid, etc.)
Agents are not casting directors!
Agents earn commissions when their clients work. Casting directors are paid by the production and never take money from performers for any reason.
Agents specialize!
Agents usually represent actors, extras or models. Be wary if the agency claims to represent all of these categories.
A principal agent will rarely represent you if you have no experience or training!
Legitimate talent agents usually require actors to have some professional training and some theater or film experience. Only background agents will represent inexperienced people who have no training and will generally try to get them non-speaking roles as extras. "

The most important factor to consider approximately JRP is that they don't make any assurance that they're going to get you're employed. They are a institution, no longer an company. Expect to acquire guideline and guideline handiest, no longer jobs and even activity leads. The well information is that despite the fact that their categories will also be high priced, attending a institution of this sort can support you to spice up your trust and deliver you a style of what you'll be able to count on from respectable move-sees and auditions. Sometimes that by myself is valuable. I went into the ones categories a scared little rabbit of a man or woman and got here out with the sort of grace, poise and trust many individuals by no means attain in an entire life. The youngsters at institution would no longer recover from the difference in me. The handiest crimson flag I'd elevate for you is the IMTA conventions, if they are nonetheless strolling the ones. They'll bear in mind you for "loose," as aspect of your software schooling, but when you're decided on, you'll be able to pay further--plenty further--to truthfully attend the conference. I consider there are different, much less high priced approaches of having your face in the market, but when you are the believe fund child kind, then whats up--opt for it! You'll commonly have plenty of a laugh and meet plenty of alternative individuals, on the very least. So, in brief, I would not name JRP a rip-off. Just recognise what you'll be able to moderately count on from them earlier than you are making a resolution. Ask your interviewer tons of questions and take an afternoon or 2 after the interview to consider approximately whether or not or no longer that is whatever you real desire to put money into. Shop round and spot if there are different categories and workshops you'll be able to take that can be much less high priced and/or of bigger nice. Good success.
