Family tax credits?
The family tax credit people have been saying that i owe them money because they overpaid me even though i gave them all the correct information, this has been going on for about four years now and every time they send me a new letter the amount go's up! It began at just over 1 thousand and now it's nearly 4 thousand, I am at my wits end with this situation, i have never been in debt in my life so this is all getting too much for me, can anyone out there help?
I also konw that they have scrapped the overpayments for some people, like my friends neighbour, probably because she is on drugs with no job, I have a job so this must be why they are persueing me!

If you're in the UK, then you're not alone. It was stated in May 2006 that nearly 2 million families in the UK had been overpaid. I wonder if you've actually spoken in length to HM Revenue and Customs about this, as communication is very necessary. If you go to the BBC site below, you can read more about the subject of overpayment and what you can do. They also suggest that you contact the HMRC and ask for Form TC846: "Request to reconsider recovery of tax credits". Your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau can also offer you advice. Start by being pro-active in trying to get this problem sorted - don't let it keep rolling on, thereby becoming worse; you'll find some of the worry being lifted when you start tackling the problem. Good luck!

They done this to me too and i always contact them immediately if anything changes. I have just paid off an 'overpayment' with them and they have sent me a letter the other day saying that once again, i have been overpaid! They have been a nightmare to get hold of over the last week, i have been trying several times a day since last week and finally got through yesterday. He couldnt explain to me why they thought i had earned nearly £1000 more than i had actually earned last year. They make me so angry. Well, i gave him my P60 details so hopefully they can correct their mistake.
I dont want to have to go through paying them back for something that i dont think i should have to as i have always been honest with them.
I feel your pain..........
