Here is a site that will show you which dog foods are the best and the worst. I suggest that you get any one of the dog foods that are top rated.
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
Most of grocery store dog food formulas, like IAMS, Pedigree, Science Diet, Purina, and etc contain "meat and bone meal" which has been known to contain dead dogs and cats that were euthanized in animal shelters. Their bodies are picked up and bought by the truck load by "rendering plants" , that also pick up road kill, dead live stock, and etc. They are shredded, and boiled. They skim off the fat on the top of the "soup" and collected it and sell it to pet food companies as "animal fat", the rest of the animals' remains are crushed up, dried and sold to dog and cat food companies as meat and bone meal.
You can read more about it here.

Here is an article where the owner of a rendering plant talks about it. He says that cremating the dead shelter animals would cause pollution, and that rendering them is good.

If you want to know about dog food, I suggest going to www.bigdogsporch.com. They will let you know of the highest quality out there, but they see raw as the ultimate diet.
There are a ton of canine nutritionists on that site, but they dont get any money out of stating their views on the site, so its completely unbiased.
If you question why I said raw, a dogs mitochondrial DNA is 99.8% similar to a wolves. If you are willing to learn more you can go to www.rawfed.com/myths, www.rawmeatybones.com(tom lonsdale's site, a DVM in australia), www.rawlearning.com.
If you have to choose a dog food please dont go for Iams, Purina, and Science diet, even if your vet tries to put you on them, which they will if they are in their office.
Just to let you know, Your vet is not educated on you pets nutrition, you should always do your research. If you look on purina's other alliances site, you can search for that on googe, and you can read exactly where they state, purina combined with the american college of veterinary nutrition and formed the american college of veterinary nutrition CURICULUM, which means purina, Iams, and science diet, have a connection with the american vet associations, a financial kickback if the can teach vets about nutrition and sell dog food for profit at the same time.
Nutritional classes in a vets education are optional and are taught by a pet food company representative.
Does it really make sense to cook a dogs food, because to preserve it that is what pet food companies do. I know my dog, if in the wild without me, would never eat cooked food.
If you do more research you will see many scams among the vet industry, but if anyone admits to it it will costs a 40 billion dollar industry to collapse, not good for them or the economy, things need to happen slowly.

Eukanuba.....they love it and it's one of the bests brands out there. If he/she is only a few weeks old...grind the food so you can make it possible for him/she to eat it...or you can make it more chewable by adding up a little bit of milk. Also Royal Canin comes according to breed I'm sure they have one specially made for Shar-Pei

I recommend Blue Buffalo... it's what we feed our shih tzu.
Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula (dry food) does not use animal by-products and their gluten-free recipes do not contain any artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Their food also does not have corn, wheat or soy, which have been known to trigger allergies.
You can go to the website: http://www.bluebuff.com/ and read more about the products they have. You can also request a free sample (and a $3 coupon).
Their treats and canned food were on the recall list so I don't recommend those.
You can also check this website for higher quality foods:

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tinyurl.im/mnCUq
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

you want a hi quality food, Science diet is good but if you want something from say wal-mart or the groceriy store go with either Iams or Purina One they are not that bad.
