if he owes back child support and is paying back and current out of his paycheck, will the rebate check be?

reduced or will the whole thing go to child support? if reduced will it be the same amount as he pays from his check( 17%) or 17% of rebate? or how much. when we first filed, they said child support had nothing to do with rebate, but when i went to irs website it says check may be reduced for child support

If the site says it might be reduced...and he owes back child supports...as far as arrears go..then chances are..he will not recieve his entire check. But you have to figure...if he got his tax return...then chances are..he will be this.

I talked with a neighbor yesterday who said he wasn't getting a stimulus check because he owed back taxes. I also know someone who lost theirs due to defaulted student loans. So, I would think child support would top both of those if his income tax refund was also garnished for back support....

The whole check should come to you. Call the IRS to make sure.

  • yes, every bit of it will go to his kids for back support if his check is less than his debt,i don't know who they are but i do know they are very wrong, the irs is very right.so if his whole rebate needs to go to his kid or kids, then good b/c they deserve it more than he does, they're innocent, didn't ask to be here.
