Do some religious people actually *want* the world to end?
Now, I refuse to single out a particular religion here but there have been some Q & A tonight where certain people (you know who you are!) seem to be actually getting excited at the idea that we might be living in the so called "End Days" (you know all the cyclones, floods etc recently)
What gives? do they all owe someone a lot of money or something ? :-)
Edit 21.53 - Hey Annoyed, don't blame me- I just popped out to the corner shop (that's a Grocery Store for our American friends) while my question accumulated answers! I'm innocent I tell you!
Look, I'll even give you a thumbs up!

The world is full of evil. Why wouldn't we want to go some place that offers pure joy, where all of our needs are met?

:-) Ha ha! Yeah, that's it--they owe lots of money! Actually, when the world does end, God will create a perfect world all over again except this time, there will be no sin, no bad things. Only perfection---that means, no illnesses, no pain, no tears, no wars, no death.....paradise! That's why some people want the world to end. So they can move on to a better life.

Yes, most of these people tend to be extremists of whatever faith they are from. For example, many Zionist Jews or Evangelical Christians want to tear down the Dome of the Rock in Jerusulem and rebuild the Temple of Solomon to bring upon the end of days.

Well, you know how in the Book of Revelations the seas will boil, the land will burn and all that stuff. Apparently, some good old god loving believers (Christians and Muslims-it's the same ending) think that they'll get a few more Brownie points in heaven if they actually hurry this event along.

Yes, it's called the Messiah Complex. It's why Christians are "supporting" Israel in the war on Islam. They think they are going to force the hand of the invisible sky god.

I bet the reason all those people might be getting excited is - THEY KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING! This is because of what they have accepted to believe in. I'll cash my ticket in when the train comes by!!

There seems to be heavy emphasis placed by religious lunatics on the need for the outbreak of all-out war in the middle east so that it may precipitate the Second Coming of Christ.
This thinking exists in adult minds.
Terrifying.

.Its possible they do but why ?? If they knew enough they would understand this is a world without end . I think some have the rapture (taking up ) theory mixed up with the end also

They seem to don't they! I think it's because they're so religious that they literally believe everything that's written and are looking forward to Heaven.
