Example Of Acceptance

As far as the dietary laws go, I think that they still apply. There isn't much nutritive value to scavengers, and as an example of how clean shrimp, lobster, crabs, etc. are, how do you know if a restaurant is purging them? Taste is one way, but can you tell the difference? The sages say exigetically that to 'cut off her hand' is a figurative expression for a financial penalty (Rashi, Sforno, etc.). Back then in that society, these things were scandalous. If you think that Jesus was just some humble guy preaching tolerance and forgiveness, then I would suggest you read the gospels(again, if you have already) because he when he talks law, he doesn't abrogate any of it. Those who don't follow the law, he refers to as "Fools", and "hypocrites". He says that a disobedient son should "die the death". He begins his ministry by telling people to "repent.", and "sin no more". He says that anyone who divorces their spouse and remaries for any reason other than infidelity is commiting adultery. He says that one doesn't have to kill someone, but if they even have anger for someone in their heart, they are guilty. Not forgiven, guilty.
