Work hard & soak up all the knowledge you can. Don't expect to be too creative at first, in fact you might find it a little mundane to start. Stick with it and remember, you need to communicate really well with the head chef & wait staff. Good luck!!!

I know it is a hard job. I was a waitress and alot of yelling yet not intentional cause nervousness, when the shift is over everyone is glad they got thru it. Just LEARN and ABSORB whatever it is your boss is telling or yelling at you. Someday you will be him. I'm sure you are a wonderful nice person. Its very high pressure. I give you credit cause I always wanted to be a cook yet do not have the self esteem. I wish you the best.

nicely, it genuinely relies upon on the place you reside and what variety of cooking job you have. in case you're a short-order cook dinner able like Denny's or Golden Corral you will no longer make a lot of funds. you do no longer ought to bypass to cooking college to acquire this type of job. maximum are on-the-job practise courses. inspite of the undeniable fact that, in case you're intending to be a chef in a sturdy eating place or inn, you're able to desire to have the two years of educating or have long previous to a sturdy college like the Culinary Institute of u.s.. And, even after graduating you have years of working your way as much as grow to be a suitable chef. Their software costs around $25,000 for 2010. yet, in case you fairly aspire and grow to be a suitable chef you may finally earn in to the 6 figures. yet, there will be a lot of years once you will make subsistence wages and you will artwork long hours counting on your shift. And, you would be status on your feet for many of them.

best advice i can give is to learn the kitchen fast. by that i mean learn where everything is and don't be scared to ask questions. it's better to ask questions than make mistakes. In the kitchen mistakes cost money.

Be confident in what you know but be willing to learn everything you can.

Also be prepared to be a go-for.
