I always took it to mean that she wants them to want her as much as she wants them.

She wants someone to feel a passion and a fire for her, to be completely devoted to her and their life together. She's encouraging the person to be anything he wants to be, and she's offering her heart and soul, but in return she wants that same intensity. It's crystal clear in the lines toward the end of the song:
Laugh for me, cry for me
Pray for me, fly for me
Live for me, die for us
