With gas prices soaring ever higher could this be the bass boat of the future?

Funny or ironic, history does have a way of repeating itself.

Update:

Last time you filled the tanks on your tow rig and boat how much did it cost?

I use the Hobie Outback fishing kayak now. I love it. It lets me get back to those spots no flats or bass boat can go. Of course to be completely honest I think fuel could go to 10.00 a gallon and there would still be hardcore fisherman out there. Who knows...10 years from now there could be Hybrid fishing boats.

We are not to far off of that mark right now brother. I use a canoe or a little 12 ft McGregor with a 4hp merc for small water now. The only time I burn much gas is for larger lakes or ocean runs because I have no choice. If they would only come up with a motor that burns salt water we would be in em! I hope we are not far off the mark. Maybe steam engine paddle boats will make a come back. Kind of noisy though for bass fishing.

I hear you, gas is getting crazy. Some of the tournament fishermen have to spend about 600 a tournament just on gas! We need a hybrid outboard to come out... now that would Be nice.. maybe ranger can give me a commission off of my idea... LOL

Gas prices aren't only affecting the boaters. Many shore bound anglers who fish the piers, jetties, bridges and so on have had to limit their trips to this:

At $3.80 a gallon, I just stay home now and catch the goldfish from my tank with one of those tiny collectable rod and reels. LOL.

Sad but true, there are some people already using oars. I'de rather have a paddle boat though

Either that or we'll be making our own rafts and using an old sheet for a sail as well as bits of wood for paddles.

http://www.tnwildside.org/stories.asp?Story=248 is the tub man. He catches a lot of fish.

I'd like to add a sail to the final rowboat.
