It's just a basic vacuum gauge with diff markings on it.

It works just like any vacuum gauge on a gas engine will.

The harder you press down on the throttle the lower amount of vac. your engine will have..

The softer you press throttle the more vac you have.

I have a real vac gauge in my street/strip camaro to keep an eye on engine running cond. (valve lash, valve springs, vac leaks, carb tune, etc)

These type gauges came stock in the late 80's on some GM models. All they do is respond to how far you depress the gas pedal. Obviously the further you step down, the worse the milage. I think they are a waste of money.

I cannot beleave it they still sell the basic vacuum gauge. To save fuel use less throttle coast down hills don't idle long and properly inflate tires. Keep the body work smooth and well waxed and empty out any extra weight. For me that would be weight around my middle too.

They don't give mileage figures-only tells you when you should get optimum mileage. Work off of vacum , press the gas and the change in vac pressure will read on happy gage. Just drive sane and it works the same. Wouldn't waste the time or money . . . .

    No.... but very interesting.

I wonder if it works well because it looks handy...
