Hi there.

  • If your grandparents were still around today, what would you ask them?

I'm assuming by answering at least one or all of your grandparents aren't with us anymore.

If you could bring them back for a day, what would you ask them? I'm asking this because I'm of the age where I'm realizing how lucky I am to have all of my grandparents with me, so I'm seeing what "out of the box" things that are important to ask but haven't though about.

Thanks guys, this must be a difficult question to ask depending on your situation, but all answers are greatly appreciated!

  • What kind of out-of-the-box events would be cool to hold for college students?

Hey guys, I'm the secretary for my dorm's Residence Hall Association. It's the job of me and my colleagues to plan events. Last year we had a really cool & popular event where we went to a trampoline complex and it was a boatload of fun. I'm just wondering if there are other events that are above and beyond the standard events we hold like ice cream night and stuff.

*****TLDR***** What are some cool events out of the ordinary I could consider hosting?

***ANY*** suggestions welcome, no matter how "stupid" you think they are.

    Thanks guys!

  • How do you simplify 18x/(3+3i) ?

Wolfram Alpha says I can simplify this to (3-3i)x , however I'm not exactly sure how to simplify the problem.

If I have 9/(3+6), I'd add the 3 and 6 to get nine, and divided 9 by 9 to get 1. But when you throw in the imaginary number, I'm kind of stuck.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

  • Contact lens question, holding up upper eyelid (first time user)?

I went to an optician on the subject of getting contact lenses.

In a nutshell I couldn't do it, I kept blinking, but I trace it to my inability to hold my upper eyelid open.

Is it still possible to put contacts in without holding the upper eyelid open?

I can touch the white of my eye for 1 to 2 seconds while only holding my lower eyelid. If I even attempt to hold open my upper eyelid I blink *insanely* rapidly. I'm going back to the opticians so I'm just seeing if it's worth my time and their time to try again.

    Thanks for your answers!

  • Physics Question: Static Equilibrium?

The question is on this picture

    http://edugen.wiley.com/edugen/courses/crs4957/hal...

The practice question was: "The figure gives six overhead views of a uniform rod on which two or more forces act perpendicularly to the rod. If the magnitudes of the forces are adjusted properly (but kept nonzero), in which situations can the rod be in static equilibrium?"

    The answers are 'c', 'e', and 'f'.

I can't even begin to figure out why...

Why are these answers, the answers?

Thank you so much in advance!

  • Are there electronic brands you are deeply loyal to?

I've felt a little loyal to Samsung, to be honest.

I saw this question somewhere else, and the answers always intrigue me.

So, what electronic brands are you loyal to?

  • What would be the best programming language to learn if I wanted to make Android apps?

I'm taking an introductory C++ class in high school and I really like it. Although I could never make a career out of it, I think it would be cool to be able to make Android apps sometime in the future.

What would be the best programming language to learn to do it? I think Android uses Java to an extent, but does it use any others?

    Thanks :-)

  • How do you integrate (1+81x)^0.5 from 0 to 1?

The answer is 2/243(82^1.5 - 1) or about 6.1... but I don't know how to get to that (most especially the 2/243)... I know I can send 2/3 out of the integral but sometime or another but I'll have to send out 82 as well to get 2/243 and I don't see where I can do that.

  • How do you simpify/expand (2-(x/2))^2?

Wolfram Alpha says the answer is x^2/4 - 4, but I got the polar opposite, 4 - x^2/4 . Can you show me step by step how you would arrive to get x^2/4 - 4? I won't have Wolfram Alpha on a test, so I any help onto where I might have gone wrong would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :-)

  • LGBT, What's your favorite color?

And are you M or F

Just seeing connections, I feel weird as a guy liking Purple, so I'm just seeing what else people like out there.

  • I wear glasses now and think I want contacts. What should I do to prepare of an eye exam?

One of the suggestions I heard was touching your eye with your finger (?) to get comfortable with it.

Is that a valid suggestion, and are there others?

    Thanks :)

  • Explain this antiderivative (2/sqrt(x) --> 4sqrt(x) please?

Doing math homework.. and while working on part of a problem that reveals its answers.

It says 2/sqrt(x) has an antiderivative of 4sqrt(x) , but can you explain how that's found? I won't have a calculator on the exam so I'm assuming it can be done by hand.

    Thanks :)

  • What are the SCREEN dimensions of the Kindle DX?

I know the screen dimensions of the Kindle 3 (3.6 by 4.8 inches), but what are the dimensions of the new Kindle DX? I've looked for the past 10-20 minutes and can't find out. I know it's 9.7 inches diagonally already.

I'm not concerned with the resolution, only the display size.

    Thanks :)

  • Need help catagorizing Calculus 1 problems.?

I have a study sheet and 2 practice problems I can't answer, but

    DON'T SOLVE THEM

I want to know what to review to solve them myself.

My question is, what topics in calculus cover these concepts so I can study it? I'm predicting anti-derivatives but I'm not entirely sure.

    1. If f'(x) = sqrt(x)(4+4x), f(1)=10, find f

    2. If g''(t) = 3/(sqrt(t)), g(4) = 20, g'(4) = 7, find g

    Thanks :)

  • What are the chances of the Kindle 3 prices being reduced after the holidays?

More or less, I'm concerned with how much. Most prices for most things will decrease after the holidays, but what kind of price decrease might I expect with something more expensive like the Kindle? About how many weeks/months would I have to wait?

Sorry If this is in a bad category, I really didn't know exactly where to put it.

    Thanks :)

  • If I order a computer direct from HP/Dell/etc, is it possible to not have Windows pre-installed?

I want to run a Linux distribution on it and virtualize Windows, whereas if it's pre-installed the key that I've already paid for will be activated, and I can't install it on a virtual machine.

I know I can dual boot, but I'd prefer to virtualize.

Is it possible without paying extra? I'm already paying to have Windows installed on the computer, so It doesn't make sense to pay more for the activation key and no OS installed, unless it's a very small amount.

  • When would one predict the next generation of Intel processors will be released?

Is there a time frame (every 2 years during the summer time, for example) when Intel usually releases new processors?

If someone asked you when new 2012 cars come out, people who know cars would say spring-fall 2011. I'm seeing if something like that works for processors, too, and if it can be approximately predicted about when new processors may come out.

    Thanks :)

  • Question on molecular mass (for an elemental analyssi)?

A problem on a practice exam goes: The molecular mass of an organic compound is 190g/mol and the elemental analysis is 37.87% carbon, 11.68% hydrogen, and 50.45% oxygen by mass. The molecular formula of the compound is what?

It's multiple choice and after finding the number of each in the empirical formula, I got C3H11O3 -> But the choices on the multiple choice (that I didn't eliminate) are C3H11O3 and C6H22O6 - the answer key says the answer is C6H22O6 --

Did I do something wrong, or is there something I have to do to find the molecular formula from the empirical formula? The key probably lies in 190g/mol if I didn't do anything wrong... but what?

    Thanks :-)
