If I order a computer direct from HP/Dell/etc, is it possible to not have Windows pre-installed?

I want to run a Linux distribution on it and virtualize Windows, whereas if it's pre-installed the key that I've already paid for will be activated, and I can't install it on a virtual machine.

I know I can dual boot, but I'd prefer to virtualize.

Is it possible without paying extra? I'm already paying to have Windows installed on the computer, so It doesn't make sense to pay more for the activation key and no OS installed, unless it's a very small amount.

Just request it, I know Dell will do it, also if they didn't accept your request when installing Linux just wipe Windoze Off.
