I need some leads on how to sell a bunch of parrot cages...?

I have a friend who lives here in Colorado. She had a parrot sanctuary years ago and is in the market to sell older cages as well as new cages. Would anyone have any idea where to post these items for free other than craigslist and the obvious papers that charge to run ads??

Certainly...begin by visiting some bird groups online...they are free...all you need to do is post them & with the word out, they will be gone~ Try www.birdboard.com they have a free classified area...also you can post for free online at www.livedeal.com[it isn't critters its stuff], Birdgroups are a plenty...so do a search thru Yahoo groups, or anywhere...they are in abundance...another group is www.birds-n-ways, www.upatsix....those are just a few off the top of my head! You can also do a search for Avian Rescues in your vicinty...do an online search...The rescues & sanctuary places can REALLY use free items... many people will drive miles & miles for the feathered ones...I DO hope you find a 'needy' & loving/caring cause that you can offer the free cages to! Thank you for caring ~ take care~

There should be a freecycle in your area (online, but unlike craigslist everything must be free so if she has some she wants to just give away that's an option), or you can donate to another animal rescue in the area or see if they need them for a discounted price, the zoo might be interested, she can auction them off on ebay, I'm sure local pet stores or animal shelters would let her put up an ad as well. Or she can go to local farmers markets, bird fairs, pet expos, etc and sell the cages. Most the time you'll have to pay a vendor fee though.

Other than that, the paper and craigslist are probably the easiest way for her to get the word out to the most people. Craigslist is free to post, and you can always make the ad short and therefore cheaper in the paper, selling a cage or 2 should more than make up for the cheap cost of posting in the paper though.

Maybe donate some of them to a bird rescue organization. Or to any animal rescue league for that matter. They might know where they are needed. How about selling them at a flea market.
