Just found out that I have to have a contractor's license to rent out my house in FL. Where to get one?
where and how to get a contractor's license in the state of Florida (Tampa Bay area)? I tried the driver's license web site and it had a link that led to nowhere. All I want to do is rent out my house until I can sell it.

You don't need a contractor's license to rent out a house. In fact, you don't need any type of license at all. You may need to get it inspected and approved for rental property, but no license is required.

I'm not an expert on FL Real estate law, check WWW.thelpa.com for further reference. But..It doesn't seem likely to me. It seems more likely that you will need a certificate of occupancy , and in some communities require ,
that rental properties or landlords be registered with local governments, ( just so they can tax you more , as far as I can see) There is sometimes a restriction on mortgages that doesn't allow to rent out houses that were bought with mortgages intended for primary residences, so dig out those papers that you got from the bank if you are still payng a mortgage on the property.

Sounds strange. You own your home and want to rent it out. Who told you a license is needed?
I find no need for license. A landlord of multiple units is different. Or a property manager is also different. I you want to get an answer from the state try this site.
