2 inches per every 60 mins, that means 1/30 inch/min So x/30 inches of rain will fall in x minutes.

well, since most ppl are just telling you the answer. Heres how they got to it.
since 2 inches fall in and hour. and you only need to know how many will fall in one min then since there are 60 min in an hour you divide 2 by 60
[it can be written as a fraction 2/60]
that is then simplified to 1/30
and since 1/30 inches of rain fall every min. that multiplied by X will be how many inches of rain fall in X min.
Your final formula is (1/30)X

2 inches of rain in 60 minutes;
so in 1 minute 2/60 inches of rain would have fallen, giving
1/30 * x

First you will want to convert 2 inches per hour to inches per minute so do 2/60 which is .0333. You can use y=mx. y will be how many inches of rainfall. m will be .0333 in this case and x will be however many minutes. Example: for 20 minutes. y=(.0333)(20) Therefore y= .666 inches of rain. Hope this helps. x is always the variable when you're using y=mx + b

2 in./1 hr. Divide by 60 to get amount of rain per minutes.
0.0333 inches per minute. Therefore: X times 0.0333 = amount of rain.
We converted hours to minutes!
