What is the best way to dye a couch?
What I want to do is dye a lite tan colored couch a dark brown. The couch is like a swade material so I think it would hold the dye. I also heard of a paint i could use but I dont know much about it. What can I do?

You can't dye upholstered furniture unless you can rinse the dye out thoroughly afterwards. If you use Rit dye and don't rinse extremely well, the dye will rub off onto the clothing of anyone who sits on the couch and ruin it.
Suede-like couches are usually upholstered with polyester microsuede, which will not take any ordinary dye. The only kind of dye that works on polyester is a special polyester dye called disperse dye, which must be boiled with the fabric for an hour. There is no way to dye polyester suedecloth unless you first remove it from your couch.
You can use fabric paint, but it will not save you any money, compared to making your own slipcovers. Fabric paint is much better than dye for upholstered furniture, but it tends to wear off quickly. It will also spoil the soft feel of the suede cloth your couch is made of. See the links below for full instructions, or buy the spray paint that is labeled as being specifically for upholstered furniture.
If you buy a book on how to make your own upholstery, you can get much better results, which will cost no more than the fabric paint would.

fill up a friends in ground swimming pool, with red dye in it.
next throw the couch into the swimming pool, make sure to let it saok for at least an hour.
Drain pool water and have a few friends help you take the couch out of the pool.
And there you have it.

Only a industrial company can do that or a independent contractor because it would be to messy. Sometimes it's better to buy a new couch because the frame may not be worth saving.

I dyed the carpet in my car once with rit dye. worked OK and is colorfast. Sofa has lots of material to cover so you run the chance of ending up with a splotchy finish.
Alternative would be slipcovers. See link below.

Never heard of coloring a couch, that would be like coloring your carpet. Try using hair color, I don't know. If your couch is starting to look dingy I would recommend just buying couch covers.
