The glass in my cold water fishtank keps going cloudy?

I'm not sure if it is the water or the tank. I'm using regular tap water & the filter is working ok.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

The glass is cloudy or the water is cloudy?? If the glass is cloudy, that would be a result of the outside temp being much colder than the water temp which will cause condensation. If your water is cloudy, then you have either a bacterial bloom (research cycling an aquarium) or you didn't rinse the substrate or filter media.

If your tank is newly established, your water could simply be clouding from a bacterial bloom which is normal.

You might need to add a special liquid that you add to regular tap water.

try water clarifier and water conditioner, read the label on the bottle of clarifier and use the amount directed according to the size of your tank. after the treatment is through make sure you either clean your filter really good or replace the charcol.

and make sure you are not over feeding your fish or over cleaning your tank,( I had the same problem).

Over time algae will build up on the glass of the tank, you can buy a little magnetic cleaning pad that removes this.

If it's the water then it's normal for new tanks

yep, its not cloudy, the walls are getting covered in algae and if you wait a day or two you will see it flow with ur water.

    Youre either...

A)Overfeeding your fish- too much food increases natural chemical reactions in ur tank.

or B) Leaving your light on to long.

What you can try doing is going to any pet store and get anti-algae wipes and then clean ur tank and wipe the walls with it.

    Itll work the first time

when i had a fish tank i had a magnetic cleany thing - one half went on the outside, one on the inside and you just move it to clean it. I think its just a build up of gunk!
