Is this a normal feeling?
Most nights when I'm about to go to sleep and I'm at that point of drifting completely off, I get this horribly disturbing chill-like feeling that comes over me. It's kind of like I'm being watched by something. Like something is just there taunting me. Every time I try to get back to get back to sleep the same feeling just pours over me again and again. I get so uncomfortable that I can't get back to sleep for a while. Is this something normal that happens or could it be something supernatural taunting me?
Okay. Let me add more stuff since people are starting to call me a satanist.. >.< I'm a pretty religious person and I do believe there is a God. I'm simply asking for help because I do believe that there are things in this world that aren't necessarily of this world. And my name is Lestat because I happen to be a fan of the character. Happy?

It could be supernatural, but most likely it is something that most people experience whether they know it or not.
There is a phenomenon (they have tried to use this to explain people who think they are abducted by aliens) where when you are barely asleep or barely awake you start to go into "sleep paralysis" - this is what keeps most people from acting out their dreams. As you start to go into this state, your brain also starts to let go of the physical world and go into the dream world. BUT when you are at the brink of both, many people will startle awake. The feeling of being paralyzed for a minute and your brain heading down some dream path combine to make some people feel like they are falling, some people feel like there is someone in the room, some people feel like someone called their name, etc. It is just your body and mind not knowing what to do when it is drawn back from the brink of sleep so quickly.

Some people may think it is spirits. Some people may think it is anxiety. You could have had something bad when you were a kid that was in the dark, and everytime you go to sleep in the dark it brings back bad memories. There also might be a medical reason. There is one more unfortunately, that someone is watching you. If you are renting the land lord, or the last tenent might have hooked up some kind of video system. So consider them all, and check off the ones that you can. Check the place out for cameras. Check with a preist, and say a prayer. Talk to a Doctor to see if he can help, medically or physically And it would not hurt to say you are sorry to whoever you might have wronged.

It could be that you are having anxiety from this feeling so it is repeating itself every time you fall asleep because you are anticipating that it will happen. It might also be something as simple as needing to cut back on caffeine. I get really fluttery and anxious if I have too much caffeine and sometimes it feels like it's all in my mind.
Try to rearrange your night time routine. Light some nice candles and play relaxing music. Change your bedsheets and pillows. Do some breathing exercises and drink some tea (caffeine free). And if all else fails, try sleeping in a different room and see if that helps. Or even in a different house... just to see if it happens elsewhere.

I had those same issues several years ago. In some cases it's biological, you know health, sometimes it's emotional such as what is going on in your life and sometimes it's a reflection of what you were doing just before you went to bed.
However in my case it was none of these and there was some entity there and I had to have a neighbor/friend come over and her and I prayer for a sphere of protection from the Holy Spirit of God and immediately no problemo. Proviso: I'm am a born again believer in Jesus.

Well, I would start with "why is your name Lestat?" Are you delving in the occult? There is a dark side, ruled by Satan and all kinds of other stuff. And there is the LIGHT. God. Confess your life to God, ask Him for deliverence, and rebuke the evil one from your life, always in Jesus' name. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Call a local church, like a Full Gospel church, and tell them what is going on. They will come and pray with you or at least pray for you, for peace and deliverence. If you don't think any of this is the problem, call a doctor and maybe see a therapist.

Do you have more information?
Do you feel parylized? unable to move?
Do you feel like their is a weight on your chest?
When the sensation ends, does your head feel groggy or heavy?
If the answer is yes, this is probably a case of Sleep Paralysis. It is a medical condition in which your body falls asleep but your mind is awake. There is medication for it - but there are ways to get rid of it without meds too. Simply correct your sleeping habbits. Dont read or watch TV in bed, make sure you get a full nights sleep, and try not to take a lot of naps.

Normal, but most people have that as they're waking up. As you go to sleep your brain release chemicals which disconnect your brain from your body -- you go into paralysis, and your sense diminish to the point your awareness can become disoriented from your body. Feelings of falling, floating or spinning can occur.
Heart rate slows, body temp drops, and your slipping into REM.
Most REM paralysis dreams occur upon waking, and there is often an evil presence, malicious spirit, intruder, or invisible force in the dream.

First of all, I love your name on here. I am a huge Anne Rice fan!!
I know exactly the feeling you are describing, because I have been through the exact same thing, off and on, for years and years. I believe it's some sort of paranormal force. Also, I sometimes feel like the blankets and sheets are being "suctioned" close to my body. I don't have an exact explanation for what it may be, only my opinion--that it's something paranormal.

i get the same feeling. it probably is something negative. what i do is just pray before i go to sleep. and sometimes that feeling just wont let me sleep no matter how tired i am. but the best thing to do is try not to be scared, because whatever it is..it feeds off of that and becomes stronger. what i did what yell and tell it to leave me alone as if i wasnt scared. lol. it did work for me.
